The first of many..I hope

Hello Theatre Goers,

As this is my first posting I will keep in short and simple. I was recently at the Boston Theatre Expo, which for those of you who don't know, is a large convention like event. Theatres from all around the Boston area gathered to promote their company and upcoming events and shows. It was the first ever expo so many people did not know what to expect upon attending. And I was one of those people. It was crowded, which though great overall for the companies, is not so great for future patrons trying to get information. People were pushy and hovered over the tables to the point that I could not even get to some of them. But unfortunately this was not the biggest problem I encountered. The biggest problem was being ignored. Over half of the 50 companies in attendance completely ignored me when I walked up to their table. This is a problem because if no one says "hi" or even attempts to start a conversation with me I will walk away and not waste my time checking out their company. So to those companies who decided to not try to get people to come to their shows I have something I want to say to you.

Dear Theatre Employees
When someone within 5 feet of your table is clearly looking at you and the literature you have laid out, SAY SOMETHING!!! Say "Hi, how are you?" "Have you been to one of (insert company name here) shows before?" Don't just there looking at me looking at you and watch me walk away! If you don't try to get patrons, how do you expect anyone to come to your shows? Clearly you all have plenty of patrons and plenty money that you don't have to try and do your job!!!

Ok that is my mild rant to theatre employees.

Most of my blog will be reviews of shows as well as ideas and commentary about theatres, both professional and non.

Thanks for reading. Now go see a show and support theatre in your area.
